Golden Pound is part of the Dragonfish network. It was launched in February 2012 and like all sites on the network is powered by Dragonfish software. Although it shares many features with other linked sites, at first glance Golden Pound is refreshingly different.
Not to be confused with: Golden Hat Bingo, a site on the Virtue Fusion network.
Getting started
The design of Golden Pound makes for a welcome change from the pink and purple backgrounds of so many bingo sites. The home page is styled in the traditional gold and red of a circus big top. Elephants flank a roulette board and dice and first impressions are that it’s not your average bingo site. In fact, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s not a bingo site at all. Slots and casino games are initially promoted more than bingo and the overall design conjures up an old-school fruit machine rather than a bingo hall.
Disappointingly, once you’ve registered, you’ll quickly see that it’s not so different from the rest. The software is easy to use; there’s nothing to download and it’s quick and reliable. But click on the ‘Bingo’, ‘Slots’ and ‘Casino’ buttons on the home page and they all take you to the same Dragonfish lobby. That said, Golden Pound’s red and gold theme is continued throughout the site and it’s a scheme that works well.
Top tip: Sign up for Golden Pound’s newsletter when you register for updates about weekly promotions and giveaways.
Bonuses and deposits
Golden Pound rewards players with a 150% bonus on their first deposit (minimum deposit £10) and subsequent deposits earn you a 50% reload bonus.
Otherwise, you’ll find the standard Dragonfish bonuses and promotions at Golden Pound Bingo. There’s the usual BFF (Bingo Friends Forever) loyalty scheme which rewards depositing players with extra bingo games and increased reload bonuses. Loyalty points (1000 points = £1 bonus cash) are awarded for every 25p bingo purchase, as well through promotions and chat games, so it doesn’t take long for them to add up.
Track your progress: In the ‘My Account’ section, click on ‘Games Played’ to keep track of your winnings.
All the fun of the fairground?
If you’re after slots and casino games, you’ve come to the right place. Golden Pound offers players a variety of games and scratchcards, including old favourites like Keno, Monopoly and Roulette. Bingo sticks to the usual Dragonfish formula, with a wide range of 90 ball, 75 ball and Swedish High-5 bingo games available. Tickets range from 5p to £1 and even if you haven’t deposited, you’ll find you’re free to look around most of the rooms.
Dragonfish is known for their big selection of guaranteed jackpot games and for their continuously running games. Golden Pound doesn’t disappoint with these and also offers free bingo to all players, whether you‘re a depositor or not.
Low stakes, high jackpots: Look out for the daily guaranteed jackpot games at just 10p a ticket!
Sterling service
Chat hosts are friendly and welcoming, which makes for a lively atmosphere in the chat rooms. There’s also a chat room devoted to player support, so you’ll be well looked after.
Golden Pound doesn’t have a Facebook or Twitter presence and there’s no mobile app either. However, given that fellow Dragonfish members have recently launched apps it may not be long before Golden Pound joins them.
Making friends: Click on the gift icon at the bottom of your chat feed to send fellow players virtual gifts.
Pros
Golden Pound’s design and approach shakes up the typical Dragonfish layout and provides a strong background theme. There’s free bingo available to all players and a great choice of progressive and guaranteed jackpots.
Cons
Although casino and slot games are pushed more on the home page, Golden Pound offers the same experience as other bingo-based Dragonfish sites. Golden Pound has no social media interaction with players and doesn’t currently offer a mobile version of its site.
Support
Golden Pound Bingo is licensed in Gibraltar and can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 08000 516 412 (UK only free number) or via the instant help chat room or customer support enquiry form.
